Things To Consider Before Redecorating A Home

Redecorating a part of a home is a tricky thing especially if it is a small home. Every few years my wife and I will start a project to restyle a room in our home. Nothing too extensive. In many cases, we DIY-ed it with good results.

Of course, there were times when we (I) ended up botching projects. The master bathroom restyling we did at our previous apartment caused a leak and we had to compensate the apartment owners below us.

It all began with the idea of just replacing the tiles in the bathroom. After a few days, it grew into installing a bathroom vanity and cabinet set as well. We liked a bigger set but our bathroom size could not accommodate it. So, we chose the 2' wide set below.

The double sink vanity and cabinet set below was the one we actually wanted.

And finally we drew the line after we decided to add a modern standalone bathtub.

So I guess, if you would like to go it without the help of professionals, you really need to assess your own capabilities in a sincere manner.

Another thing my wife and I underestimated during our first projects was the amount of dirt and dust that would be flying around all over the place.

We'd say to ourselves,"It's only a small 6' by 8' bathroom. How much dirt could it possibly kick up?" And then we'd find out later to our bemusement. We though before hand that the mess would be manageable and that we could still comfortably inhabit our apartment while we remodel our bathroom.

As it turned out, dirt and dust was everywhere. The project lasted about a week and we ended up cleaning up the mess every night.
